I enjoy my shows – and yes, I’m a millennial – so it’s not really surprising that I love the Gilmore Girls. Did you miss the last time I wouldn’t shut up about them? I promise I won’t ramble on like that again…
Every year, without fail… I watch Gilmore Girls. I crochet and I watch Rory and Lorelai once again navigate their relationships. plus… subtitles…
But it’s made me think – the show was made, what like 15 years ago? There are jokes in there about Trump that are particularly… relevant to today’s political climate. There are sassy lines in there that you just don’t see in workplaces anymore… I guess that’s “thanks” to the progression of people suing employers for inappropriate workplace behaviour…?
Then there are amazing moments when Lorelei and Rory wear matching outfits or have real-life conversations that probably helped many parents of teenagers during that time understand them a little more.
Every show has bad moments though – some lines seem forced, which it’s entirely possible in those days, and some scenes are just cringe-worthy in how they are handled.
I dunno, maybe it’s just me – but I enjoy watching my shows – I pick up things I missed the first 5 times I watched them – The Big Bang Theory, Frasier, Scrubs, Charmed, Friends, Seinfeld, Gilmore Girls – all the shows that drive my husband crazy. Cuz you know – love doing that shit.
Till next time.
