I spent some time this month re-playing planet crafter.
In case you haven’t heard of it before – The Planet Crafter is currently in early access and available on platforms like steam or GOG. Long story short, you end up on a planet with a … gun? And you get to work terraforming the planet. There are places to explore like caves, different habitats and wrecks. It has a story element, but that’s not the focus. It dabbles in chemistry, biology, technology, engineering, rocketry, mining and agriculture. It’s a great game to play when you just want to listen to music and be sad for a while. Or angry.
I started playing it… gosh I don’t even remember. A long… long time ago. It was clunky, but charming. And I swore that I would play it again when they had progressed a little further.
It turns out these last few weeks have been the time I’d sworn about. The game has progressed SO much. There are fewer bugs which is great, but there are still some issues with walls. Sometimes – it’s convenient, getting you to a place you couldn’t find an entrance for. Other times – it still sends you into oblivion that you cannot escape from.
I took my time with this play through, spending more time learning about the different buffs, optimizing the terraforming process and upgrading items.
And I’m still going to start over when it’s finally released – actually probably a few more times.
I should probably share some screenshots.
Maybe. I’ll think about it.
Till next time.
